# Understanding the Structure of Multi-Event Classes

Multi-Event Classes are designed for activities where parents can book **multiple dates from a group of available dates**.

They work very similarly to PAYG Classes. The main difference is that instead of booking an individual session, parents can select **multiple dates as part of the same booking**.

This makes Multi-Event Classes ideal for activities such as:

- Summer holiday camps
- Easter holiday camps
- Christmas camps
- Multi-day workshops
- Other activities where several dates are available to book

---

## Multi-Event Class Structure

Multi-Event Classes follow the structure:

**Category → Class → Group → Dates, Times & Locations**

Each level controls a different part of how the activity is organised.

---

## 1. Category

A **Category** is normally used to represent the activity or discipline within your club.

For example:

**Gymnastics**

Other examples could include:

- Trampolining
- Cheerleading
- Holiday Camps
- Preschool Gymnastics

Classes are then created underneath the relevant Category.

---

## 2. Class

A **Class** is created underneath the Category.

For example:

**Category:** Gymnastics
**Class:** Summer Holiday Camp

The Class represents the type of activity being offered.

---

## 3. Group

Groups are then created underneath the Class.

For Multi-Event Classes, a Group would typically represent a particular camp, course or collection of dates.

For example:

**Class:** Summer Holiday Camp
**Group:** August Summer Camp

The Group keeps the related dates together as one bookable activity.

---

## 4. Dates, Times & Locations

The individual dates are then added to the Group.

Unlike a PAYG Class, where parents typically book an individual session, a Multi-Event Class allows parents to **select multiple dates from the available dates**.

For example:

**August Summer Camp**

- Monday 3 August — 9:00am–3:00pm
- Tuesday 4 August — 9:00am–3:00pm
- Wednesday 5 August — 9:00am–3:00pm
- Thursday 6 August — 9:00am–3:00pm
- Friday 7 August — 9:00am–3:00pm

A parent could then choose, for example, **Monday, Wednesday and Friday** when making their booking.

This allows clubs to offer a cluster of related dates without requiring the parent to book every available date.

---

# Example Structure

A Summer Holiday Camp could therefore be structured as:

**Category**
Gymnastics

↓

**Class**
Summer Holiday Camp

↓

**Group**
August Summer Camp

↓

**Available Dates**
Monday 3 August
Tuesday 4 August
Wednesday 5 August
Thursday 6 August
Friday 7 August

↓

**Parent Booking**
Parent selects the dates their child will attend.

---

# When Should You Use a Multi-Event Class?

Multi-Event Classes are best used when you are offering **a collection of related dates and want the parent to choose multiple dates during one booking**.

For example, if you are running a five-day Summer Holiday Camp, a parent may only require childcare on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Instead of making three completely separate bookings, Multi-Event allows them to select the dates they require as part of the same booking journey.

---

# Multi-Event vs PAYG

Although Multi-Event and PAYG Classes are structured similarly, there is one important difference:

**PAYG** is designed for booking an individual session.

**Multi-Event** is designed for selecting multiple dates from a collection of available dates.

A simple way to think about it is:

**PAYG → Choose a session**

**Multi-Event → Choose your dates**
